"Big ideas for small gardens" |
Cumin Place, Edinburgh A typical Georgian villa on the south side of Edinburgh and set within a west-facing walled garden. The client inherited a garden which, we could see, had been lovingly tended to in the past but was now somewhat overgrown. The brief was to tidy up the sweeping border and create a sunny seating area near the house. Trees and shrubs were thinned out where necessary, herbaceous plants lifted and divided and some additions made to provide contrast of foliage colour and year round interest. Natural limestone was used for the patio, the blue/grey colouring complimenting the modern glass extension. A range of teak furniture added the finishing touch. |
St Baldreds Road, North Berwick The retired clients had sold off part of their large garden for development. A new boundary wall was built and the existing crumbling retaining walls, crazy-paved patio and steps replaced. The new layout was set at an angle to the house increasing the feeling of depth and to create vistas across the garden. Planting is still in progress. |
